“Escalation >< Involution”
Continents, oceans, and poles can now be considered a single neural network, a habitat mundi of complex natural and anthropogenic connections, a single planetary brain-software that regulates the fragile balance of human life, increasingly at risk of extinction.
“Escalation >< Involution,” a 10-minute audio and video installation, was installed in 2025 at the M9 Museo del'900 in Venice Mestre, in a 400-square-meter room with an impressive array of projectors. It was part of the major international exhibition on Impressionism, "Saved Art: Masterpieces Beyond the War from the MUMA in Le Havre."
The sound and concept of the work are the first preview of the new album, “Cerebro Mundi,” scheduled for release in 2026.
The video installation by Alessandro Zannier, supported by OOM (Alex Piacentini and Nicholas Bertini), showcases the exponential growth of data on environmental issues, correlating them with data on the cultural involution of the West, towards the inevitable reaching of the point of singularity beyond which chain reactions become irreversible and out of control. In the work, statistical graphs become aesthetic and emotional elements and animate a form of “hybrid brain” very similar to that of planet Earth, suggesting the importance of the correlations between humans and the environment, and of culture, like the synapses that can nourish the entire brain.
Supported by a sound installation created by the artist himself (also a long-time musician and author under the pseudonym Ottodix), the work is an evolution of the “ENT” operation, a four-year project of twin light installations that intersect environmental data between Italy and the 6 continents.
